THE INEVITABILITY & NECESSITY OF VALUE EDUCATION
In today’s times, consumerism, idleness, insensitivity, watching stupid TV serials, violent and obscene movies, hours wasted watching cricket matches, fast food and parties, bad company, and spending money on online games for quick wealth — all of this is affecting the physical and mental well-being of our youths.
Endless scrolling on social media through the night, wasting time on meaningless reels, neglecting exercise and reading, loud music and dancing on Dolby systems, gossip, hatred, falling prey to temptations, and increasing addiction — this paints a worrying picture.
In such confusing times, it’s more important than ever to guide youths in the right direction and inspire them. Every village should have schools, libraries, and gyms. We need to promote a culture of reading. Value-based education is the need of the hour — to build a generation rooted in good morals.
To build a knowledge-based society, we must run skill development programs, host lecture series, and encourage thoughtful discussions. A person doesn’t grow well by dancing, but by reading, understanding, and thinking deeply.
Instead of idolizing fictional movie heroes, we must draw inspiration from real legends — the foresight, planning and management of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the social revolution of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the compassionate philosophy of Sane Guruji, the educational contributions of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, the bravery of Rani of Jhansi, and the sovereignty and religious protection upheld by Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
In short – if we want to guide the out-of-trach youths onto the right path, there is no better way than value-based education. Considering this inevitability and necessity of value education, it should be promoted and brought into force at the earliest.
