GEMS OF WORDS BY ROBIN S. SHARMA

(From the book)

The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari

by

Robin S. Sharma

  • ·         A captivating story, it contains treasures of wisdom than can enrich and enhance the life of every single person. This book is a gold mine of wisdom and common sense. It will keep reader spellbound and full of energy.
  • ·         Everything happens for a reason. Every event has a purpose and every setback its lesson. One should realize that failure whether of the personal, professional or even spiritual kind is essential to personal expansion. It brings inner growth and a whole host of psychic rewards. Never regret your past. Rather embrace it as the teacher that it is.
  • ·         Live longer, stay younger and grow far happier.
  • ·         Every single person on the planet is a genius.
  • ·         The most joyful, dynamic and contented people of this world are no different from you or me in terms of their makeup. We are all flesh and bones. We all come from the same universal source.
  • ·         Remember the law of nature – always ensure that when one door closes another opens.
  • ·         Start taking risks. Shake up your life a bit. Get rid of the cobwebs. Take the road less travelled. Most people live within the confines of their comfort zone.
  • ·         Discover your real reason for being here on the planet and then have the courage to act on it.
  • ·         Weak minds lead to weak actions. A strong disciplined mind, which anyone can cultivate through daily practice, can achieve miracles.
  • ·         Work hard to remove all inner turbulence. The rewards will be abundant.
  • ·       A worrisome thought is like an embryo; it starts off small but grows and grows. Soon it takes on a life of its own.
  • ·         Run your own race. It doesn’t matter what other people say about you. What is important is what you say to yourself. Do not be concerned with the judgement of others as long as you know what you are doing is right.
  • ·         Never set a goal without attaching a timeline to it. To breathe life into a goal you must attach a precise deadline to it.
  • ·         Always remember that what lies behind you and what lies in front of you is nothing when compared to what lies within you.
  • ·         In our chaotic world, most people’s minds are not still. We are full of inner turbulence.
  • ·         Read regularly. Reading for 30 minutes a day will do wonders for you. But do not read just anything. You must be very selective about what you put into the lush garden of your mind. It must be immensely nourishing. Make it something that will improve both you and the quality of your life.
  • ·         The only thing standing between most people and their dreams is the fear of failure. Yet failure is essential to success in any endeavor. Failure tests us allows us to grow. It offers us lessons and guides us along the path of enlightenment. The teachers of the East say that every arrow that hits the bull’s eye is the result of the hundred misses. Never fear failure.
  • ·         If there is power, discipline and confidence, then there will be no hurdle too high for you to overcome, no challenge too tough for you to surmount and no crisis too hot for you to cool down.
  • ·         Without discipline, courage, interest and will power; you are lost like a mariner without a compass, one who eventually sinks with his ship.
  • ·         Believe it or not, developing the power of your will can erase the worry habit, keep you healthy and give you far more energy than you have ever had.
  • ·         The best thing to plant a tree was forty years ago. The second best time is today. Don’t waste even one minute of your day. Develop a deathbed mentality. (it means you live every day of your life as if it was your last day)
  • ·         Act as if failure is impossible, and your success will be assured. Wipe out every thought of not achieving your objectives, whether they are material or spiritual. Be brave, and set no limits on the workings of your imagination. Never be a prisoner of your past. Become the architect of your future. You will never be the same.
  • ·         Time slips through our hands like grains of sand, never to return again. Those who use time wisely from an early age are rewarded with rich, productive and satisfying lives.
  • ·         Ancient Chinese proverb, “a little bit of fragrance always clings to the hand that gives you roses.” The meaning is clear- when you work to improve the lives of others; you indirectly elevate your own life in the process.
